Tuk-Tuk Taxi

Tuk-Tuks are small three-wheeled taxis that seat one to three passengers.  Tuk-Tuks are occasionally available in Playa Guiones or you can arrange a pick up.  Not all drivers are familiar with the location of the homes.  We recommend asking them to meet you at a nearby hotel, restaurant, café, or business.

Shuttle Van Taxi

This is the best option for four or more people.  We suggest calling a couple of hours in advance to make sure a taxi is available.  The rate is approximately $15 each way.  Please ask the taxi company for their rate.

ATMS and Banks

There are two banks in the area: Banco Popular and Banco de Costa Rica.  Banking hours are 9am to 4pm Monday through Friday.  They are close on Saturday and Sunday.
If you are unable to use the ATM, money can be withdrawn within the bank.  Be sure to have your passport with you to make the withdrawal.
Banco de Costa Rica: located on the main road, Route 160, by the gas station which is north half way between Playa Guiones and Nosara.

• Accepts cards with a microchip.

• Dispenses in Costa Rican Colon and US Dollar.

• Limit to ATM withdrawals.  You may only be able to take out $100 or $200 US Dollars per ATM, per day.

Banco Popular: located in town in Playa Guiones.  It is 20 meters west of Café de Paris.

• One ATM.  It accepts VISA only, however, it does not accept cards with a microchip.

• Dispenses in Costa Rican Colon only.

• Daily withdrawal limit, either 50,000 or 100,000 Colon, roughly equal to $100 or $200 USD.

• There is a $5.00 charge per withdrawal.

Playa Guiones has several transportation rental options for choose from: cars, golf carts, ATVS, and bicycles.  NO VEHICLES of any kind are permitted on the beach in Playa Guiones, Playa Pelada, or Playa Ostional.  For safety reasons, please do not allow kids to drive golf carts.  The roads in the area are shared by large vehicles, cars, ATVS, golf carts, Tuk-Tuks, motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrians.
There is one gas station in the area and it is located on the main road, Rout 160, going north between Playa Guiones and the town of Nosara.
